Working group
The working group performs tasks according to the Explosives Act (SprengG), according to the regulations for the transport of dangerous goods, and is one of fourteen notified bodies of the European community for the EU-conformity assessment of explosives (CE-marking) in accordance with European Directive 93/15/EEC.

Within an EU-conformity assessment
blasting explosives and propellants are investigated on their safe functioning
and on reliable ignition. Also included is testing of the properties of the
blasting explosives and propellants under various extreme conditions
(temperature, pressure, humidity), the composition analysis, and the testing of
electrical parameters of igniting devices and blasting accessories. The CE-mark
is valid throughout the entire European community.
The working group operates a test bunker which can be used with explosives up
to a TNT equivalent of 1 kg. Tests with larger amounts of explosives are
performed at the BAM Test Site Technical Safety south of Berlin.
