Reference materials are essential, when accuracy and reliability of measurement results are to be ensured. Incorrect measurement results must be avoided, not least because they can cause substantial extra costs. Therefore, BAM makes available reference materials of high and the highest quality for its customers from industries, research institutes and other public sectors.
Reference materials are 'controls' applied when measurement results are to be traced to a reference base (standards). Additionally, they are often used for the determination of measurement uncertainties and in calibration. For quality assurance in accredited and certified measurement and calibration laboratories, the use of reference materials (RM, CRM, ECRM, ERM) is obligatory.
