Employment opportunities

For vacancies in all vocational fields, please visit also our German webpage.

Junior scientists

BAM has a limited number of posts available for junior scientists who hold a Ph.D. Employment contracts are structured so as to offer further scientific development.

Ph. D. posts

At any one time BAM employs approx. 140 Ph. D. students working on theses in natural sciences or engineering. Some 20 new Ph.D. students are employed annually and the average Ph. D. study period is three years.

Ph. D. adjudication usually takes place at a university in Berlin, the research itself being supervised by BAM scientists on the academic staff, although it also sometimes takes place at a non-local university.

Doctorates can also be undertaken within the framework of research projects supported by industry; such posts are, as a rule, advertised.

BAM is an equal opportunities employer. Applications from women are particularly welcome. Registered severely disabled applicants demonstrating equal eligibility will be given preferential consideration: they only need to meet minimum physical requirements.

Professional training

BAM has a long tradition of education, not only in professional training but also in school and university teaching.

Trainees, scientific assistants, final students

Natural sciences or engineering students interested in BAM's activities should apply to the address given on the right.

Adolf Martens Fellowship Programme

BAM has initiated the Adolf Martens Fellowship Programme to provide research opportunities for exceptional young scientists to pursue research in all branches related to BAM´s mission, i. e. in the field of safety in materials technology and chemistry. Up to 10 scholarships are awarded annually. Applicants should have completed their Ph.D less than three years before the date of application.
